Select Comfort’s Sleep Number Bed Reviews

Posted by Guide Master | Brand Names |

Select Comfort is the company that sell the Sleep Number adjustable mattress on television and through other sources. The Sleep Number beds are unique as the in that they’re not simply foam or coiled. While there is plenty of foam used for the bed, the biggest feature is the use of air chambers used to apply and adjust the comfort levels of the bed. Not that these beds, while adjustable, don’t rise up or lower any part of the body like other adjustable beds do. It’s kind of like a Tempur-Pedic bed in that sense.

Not surprisingly Sleep Number adjustable beds aren’t universally agreed upon. There are a number of mixed reviews out there by customers. The worst of the problems mentioned was molding. It seems the foam and other pieces of the mattress have a tendency to mold in the long term. A problem that by most accounts was fixed by the manufacturer, Select Comfort, through the return warranty policy. Even with the speedy costumer service that consumers claim, it’s hard to justify buying a $2000 or $3000 errand down the line and not to mention the health concerns related to mold. Another major long term problem mentioned is the bed trenching or forming to your weight, a problem that would lead to less comfort after a couple years. Also, to be far it seems not everyone experience these problems.

The adjustable comfort levels is easily the most praised aspect of Sleep Number beds. Reviewers really enjoyed the comfort that it was able to provide and since the its a dual mattress it could be set at two different settings on each side for a couple. The unique foam and air chamber set up also avoids the need to flip the mattress, although with the trenching problem this could be a moot point.

Overall, Sleep Number adjustable bed reviews make this seem like a potential costly mistake. Mold concerns and longevity issues seem to be major issues. On the same token not everyone has had problems so the appearance of mold may depend on the area you live. On top of this the bed is an expensive proposition at $3000. Buy at your own risk would be the advice I’d give.
